22 million Spaniards open, close and use apps on a daily basis. We also download four million apps a day. It seems that we are getting increasingly attached to this form of technology in Spain. In fact, the use of apps has doubled in our country in just a year.

The launch of our Customers app three months ago is obviously linked to this phenomenon…but it is also very much related to our commitment to ongoing improvement and offering our customers an excellent service.

This is something that is not always easy to achieve when we work with over 11 million customers in Spain alone.  It calls for a huge effort by several people working together as a team. I do my part by working with other colleagues on developing the way we relate to our customers and harnessing the evolution underway in new technologies.

To be honest, when I stop to think how tech in general (and mobile tech in particular) has progressed, I can’t help but be amazed by it all.  I still remember the first mobile I owned. I bought it because it was the first New Year’s Eve that I was going out and it gave my parents a bit more peace of mind. With the old devices, there wasn’t much more you could do apart from making a call or sending an SMS. If someone had told me then what I would be able to do on my mobile phone today (instant messaging, e-mail, GPS, diary, games, social media, etc.), I wouldn’t have believed them. I myself have experienced that evolution on a personal level with great interest. Interest bordering on passion! That is why, silly as it may seem, I have been very excited about working on this project and I’m very proud of having been a member of the team that created the Customers app.

Our commitment is clear: to give the service our customers need at any given time. Nowadays, that means offering solutions that enable fast, straightforward access from any location and at any time to comprehensive information on electricity and gas contracts using a mobile device.

The Customers app is a free mobile application for Android and iPhone operating systems, which gives us access to the main services in our Virtual Customers’ Office at any time and using the same password we now use to access the Iberdrola customers website. That means we now have the following possibilities in the palm of our hands:

  • Check, download and send our bills by e-mail,
  • Ask for data on our consumption levels,
  • Choose a fixed amount to pay every month and the day we want it to be debited from our account,
  • Sign up for e-bills,
  • Enter meter-readings,
  • Look for offers tailored to meet our needs,
  • Sign up for any of our offers and services,
  • Check the details of our contracts,
  • Check our details and change our passwords.

We can also locate the nearest Customer Support outlets, telephone numbers and other contact channels, receive customised alerts, messages and notifications, or recommend the app to our friends, as well as other services. Haven’t you downloaded it yet? Don’t wait any longer, download it now and start benefiting from all of these advantages!

So far, the response to the app has been very positive, with over 30,000 downloads and a score of 4.2 out of 5 on Google Play. This means it is listed among the highest scoring apps on the market, with the highest among all the utilities. Apart from these indicators, I think one of the main reasons for my satisfaction with this project is that the work that I and all my colleagues put into it has created value for our customers by offering them something they consider to be useful.

However, our challenge is not over. We are still working with care and passion to maintain the trust that thousands of customers have placed in us.
